Wendy Williams‘ dementia battle won’t stop her from being there for her family. On Thursday, Dec. 19, the former talk show host was captured on video supporting her son, Kevin Hunter Jr., at his college graduation. She was so moved by the ceremony that she cried tears of joy. Seeing Williams enjoy some quality time with her family has fans so happy for her, especially with everything she’s gone through in recent years.
The 60-year-old TV star went to Miami, Florida, to watch her son graduate from Florida International University. In a viral video shared on X, Wendy Williams was seen attending the ceremony with her family. Despite sitting in the middle of a packed crowd, Williams stood out in a sparkly, low-cut black dress. She paired her outfit with a collection of bracelets, as well as a large ring on her left hand. Williams also accessorized with a chunky necklace that featured the letter “W.” Finally, she added a pop of color to her look by wearing bold red lipstick.

Wendy Williams Wipes Away Tears While Watching Kevin Hunter Jr. Graduate
According to Page Six, Williams beamed with pride throughout the event. She supported her son by clapping and cheering for him. At one point, she apparently got so emotional that she cried. Fans praised her for being a present mother despite her ongoing health issues. “Such a good momma,” one person said. “Love seeing her at this milestone,” another wrote. “It’s good to see Wendy out and attending her son’s graduation,” another comment read.
The publication reports that Wendy Williams’ father, Thomas Williams Sr., and her older sister, Wanda Finnie, were also at the event. They weren’t alone. Outside the venue, the star was photographed using a red mobility scooter beside some armed body guards. It’s unclear if Williams personally hired them for protection or if they were already at the ceremony on behalf of the school.

Kevin Hunter Jr. is Wendy Williams’ only child. She and her ex-husband, Kevin Hunter Sr., welcomed him in August 2000. Although Hunter Jr. has largely remained out of the spotlight, he recently appeared in the Lifetime documentary Where Is Wendy Williams? earlier this year in order to raise awareness about his mother’s health issues. Some of her struggles have included primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia. Due to her condition, her hit talk show, The Wendy Williams Show, was unfortunately canceled in 2022.
