Synduality Is the Mech Tarkov I Never Knew I Needed

Escape from Tarkov is simultaneously the best and worst extraction shooter. Top-tier gunplay and a deep inventory system made the game famous. Then came the rampant cheating, wipe issues, and the pay-to-win exploitation of the $250 Unheard Edition. Though Battlestate Games cast a long shadow, others stepped into the spotlight. From Zero Sievert and Helldivers 2 to Deceive Inc. and Hunt: Showdown, the genre is more varied than ever. This week another contender is flexing its mechanized muscles. Here’s what’s happening with the Synduality Echo of Ada network test.

Game Studio is having an Open Network Test for Synduality from Dec. 12-15 on PS5, Xbox X|S, and Steam. That’s another chance to climb into your Cradlecoffin, harvest some ore, and vaporize mechs. Synduality plays like other extraction shooters but with some unique twists. Whether you’re looking for an anime waifu or the meticulous theorycrafting of MechWarrior, Synduality delivers. My previous hands-on time with the game was enough to convince me there’s more fun to be had here than exfil-camping Customs. The cutscenes are as cute as your custom Magus companion, and the mechs all feel uniquely suited for robot murder.

Balancing battery life while looting, fighting, and taking shelter from storms gives the game a rhythm of its own. Harvesting AO Crystals in Echo of Ada scratches that Deep Rock Galactic itch, too. Of course, it’s way too early to say how much staying power the game will have. Still, with large maps, tons of mech parts, and an extensive base upgrade system, Synduality is poised to hook gamers in for the long haul. If you’re into mechs, PvPvE, and the satisfaction of an organized inventory, Synduality is one to watch when it launches on PS5, Xbox X|S, and PC on January 23, 2025.
