King Charles Expects This of Harry Before Ending Royal Feud: ‘He’s the One Making It Difficult’

King Charles‘ relationship with his younger son Prince Harry continues to sour amid the prevailing royal feud. Talks of a reconciliation between Harry and his royal family have flooded the media for months, especially after his 40th birthday. For many, the royal family’s decision to mark the milestone with a birthday tribute to the Duke of Sussex was a sure step towards reconciliation. However, three months later, neither the estranged prince nor his family has made further reconciliatory steps, once again dashing hopes of a long overdue royal reunion.

Royal biographer Hugo Vickers believes the one stumbling block holding things back is the duke himself. Speaking to The Sun, the royal expert revealed that Prince Harry needed to take the first step in the reconciliatory move before his dad, King Charles, or other royal family members could consider a peace-making reunion. Hugo divulged,

“He’s [Harry] the one who needs to pull himself together and extend the olive branch because he is the one making it difficult between them.”

King Charles Not Eager to Welcome Prince Harry Amid Royal Feud

While the King could welcome Harry back into the royal fold when he does make this move, a reunion with the estranged Prince is not exactly on Charles’ priority list. According to the royal biographer, the monarch was well aware that reconciling with his younger son would attract unwelcome publicity, ultimately deflecting public attention from the king and things that actually mattered.

That in itself, Hugo explained, was a major problem when it came to the prospects of Prince Harry reconciling with his dad and brother and ending the royal feud. The royal expert cited the monarch’s relationship with other members of the royal family who were always willing to support the king without taking the spotlight away from him or dimming his shine. He divulged,

“The most successful members of the royal family are the ones who support the king in what he’s doing, and they don’t compete with him.”

Given the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s foray into showbiz since leaving the UK and the royal family, keeping the publicity at bay would prove near impossible. This in turn would most certainly compete with the works of the royal family, diverting the attention away from the king. Since this popularity and relevance are important to sustaining the British monarchy, Prince Harry’s reconciliation with the royals and his possible UK comeback would invariably pose a great challenge to King Charles unless he is willing to give it all up in exchange for the royal embrace. However, that decision does not fall only on Harry, but also on his wife Meghan Markle who has an equal stake in the Sussexes brand.
