Sean John Combs, aka Diddy, continues to remain behind bars while his alleged drug mule walks free. The incarcerated rapper fell from grace following scathing sexual abuse allegations from multiple women, including his ex-girlfriend Cassie. When the feds started investigating his case, they arrested his former assistant, Brendan Paul, on drug possession charges.
Authorities took Paul, the rapper’s alleged drug mule, into custody in March at the Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport. They reportedly found cocaine and marijuana candy in his bag during a search. The arrest occurred around the same time the feds raided Diddy’s Los Angeles and Miami homes.
Despite getting hit with one felony count of drug possession in Florida, State prosecutors dismissed the charges against Paul. The news broke on Tuesday, December 17, with his lawyer noting he had completed a pretrial diversion program. This arrangement marked great news for Diddy’s former assistant as he escaped jail time and probation.
Federal sources echoed similar sentiments about Paul’s freedom from the drug charge, claiming the feds were not involved. They assured TMZ that the alleged drug mule did not strike a deal with the prosecutors in the Diddy case. However, social media users begged to differ, speculating Paul had betrayed the music mogul to save himself.
These conspiracy theorists shared their thoughts on X, with someone claiming Paul “made a deal.” Another echoes similar sentiments, writing, “He sang like a canary.” A third found the drug charge dismissal suspicious, stressing that cocaine was not legal in Florida. A critic daw Paul’s escape as biased treatment, noting:
“I’ve always bet on white when it comes to the judicial system in America. White people have some of the best ‘luck’ in American courtrooms.”
Diddy To Remain Behind Bars Until Trial Following Three Bail Rejections

A month before his former assistant escaped his felony drug case, We covered that Diddy won’t regain his freedom. Judge Arun Subramanian rejected the Bad Boy for Life rapper’s third attempt to secure bail in support of prosecutors. During the bail hearing, federal prosecutors argued that the record producer was a threat to witnesses if released.
They alleged Diddy had continued obstructing justice despite being held at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center. They caught him trying to contact witnesses via a three-way calling system. He achieved this by paying other inmates to use their Phone Access Code numbers. However, the rapper’s legal team argued that he stopped using the ContactMeASAP service on November 16.
Despite his defense claims, evidence showed that Diddy had used the calling service on November 24. The judge also referenced the footage of him attacking his ex-girlfriend Cassie as proof of his “propensity for violence.” On that note, Subramanian rejected his bail plea, stressing:
“The Court finds that the government has shown by clear and convincing evidence that no condition or combination of conditions will reasonably assure the safety of the community.”

Diddy has been desperately trying to secure bail since his September arrest and indictment on criminal charges. He first placed his $50 million Miami mansion as collateral and offered to be on 24/7 surveillance. Additionally, he agreed to several restrictions, including monitored visits and phone calls, but the judge refused.
Will Diddy remain behind bars until his 2025 trial, or will he make another attempt to secure bail?
