BO6 Warzone Runs Like Absolute Trash on Xbox One and PS4 Right Now

Activision has the unsettling habit of releasing games that just don’t run well on the older generation consoles. Ask people who bought Black Ops 3 on their PS3 and Xbox 360. And now a decade later, they’re doing the same thing for BO6 and Warzone on PS4 and Xbox One, limiting both the developers and the users for an extra dollar.

It’s obvious that you can not run a 2024 graphic-demanding game on decade-old hardware. It just doesn’t fit. And for some reason, Activision is pushing the team to keep rendering lower texture qualities so that they can sell their new product to people using old devices. No, it’s not support, it’s trolling the fan base.

The first issue caused by this action is the limitless bugs in recent Call of Duty games. Maps like Al Mazrah were built to run on PS5 and Xbox Series X on high quality. And still, we had it on PS4. I remember playing it on Xbox One two years ago, and the textures sometimes took more than a minute to load in the game. Let alone the FPS drops.

Now years after switching over to PS5 and PC, I came across a video posted on Reddit above, showcasing the BO6 Warzone performance on Xbox One. The game barely even runs on this console! So I went back and checked the BO6 Warzone performance on my dusty PS4, and I have to admit, it’s painful to watch.

Releasing a game that’s super heavy for old-generation consoles damages both the user experience and the developer’s creativity alike. Fans don’t get to play properly and devs can’t go on and harness the new hardware’s full potential. Sadly enough, Activision might be releasing at least another title on PS4 and Xbox One thanks to Warzone being on both consoles receiving Call of Duty 2025’s integration.
