Modern Warfare 4 Doesn’t Make Any Sense Now And The New Intel Doubles Down On It

It’s been a while since leakers and insiders have enlightened us with the knowledge of upcoming Call of Duty titles, with 2025 being slated for the next Black Ops game and 2026 for Modern Warfare 4. However, new intel regarding the Modern Warfare 4 gameplay mechanics has emerged, making it feel the least like what a MW game should be. Captain Price running on the wall? Come on man.

The one unique feature I used to love about Call of Duty was how each of their games played differently based on the series they dropped into. Black Ops was the more arcadey lean with mind-bending scenarios and futuristic warfare, and on the other hand, Modern Warfare was much closer to a mil-sim experience. But well, Modern Warfare 4 doesn’t drink that cup of tea with a scenario that makes absolutely 0 sense in terms of narrative and gameplay.

According to the new intel, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is set to feature Omnimovement of the Black Ops 6 and CoD 2025, which is nice, and then it’s going to have a wall running movement mechanism? That’s not how Modern Warfare works.

Why The Rebooted Modern Warfare Narrative Is Going Off The Road?

Simply put, it’s the idea of having every new Call of Duty game injected into the Black Ops timeline even when they don’t match at all. Do you believe that two years later in the world of Modern Warfare III, Raul Menendez invades Los Angeles and David Mason fights them with a super-advanced jet? Hell no!

The idea of the new Modern Warfare games taking place in the same universe as Black Ops is definitely intriguing at the start, but the more we go on, the more we realize that the theme of these two series won’t match at all. Treyarch Studios has done a fantastic job of keeping Black Ops the way it’s always defined to be, but it seems like Infinity Ward has lost its touch on Modern Warfare by not allowing Soap to become Captain MacTavish we know and love and have him fight zombies and die a year later for some reason.

So I don’t know what master plan is behind the story of making Modern Warfare a Black Ops game, but it just doesn’t work. And the reason is that we already have a perfect Modern Warfare series in the archive and reusing Price and Ghost to fight alongside David Mason in a futuristic setting just feels bizarre.
