How To Defeat Balbala in Path of Exile 2

While your goal in entering the Traitor’s Passage is to reach the city, there is an optional boss that you can challenge in this dungeon. Balbala, The Traitor, is a tricky boss in Path of Exile 2 who loves using poisons. Despite being sealed away for many years, she is also very fast and can summon creatures to help her fight. However, she can also create a deadly poison mist that she will use several times during the battle.

Path of Exile 2 Balbala Boss Fight Guide

Balbala is a Path of Exile 2 boss who focuses on using poisons, so equipping gear with resistance against this status effect will help. The djinn is also very fast and can move quickly to various spots in the arena. You will want to be constantly moving to avoid receiving damage. Here are all the attacks you can expect to encounter:

Blade Throw: This is the most common attack that Balbala will use. She will either throw several in a circular pattern or send a volley of them straight in your direction.

Na’kai: Another blade attack, but this one is more dangerous. After throwing numerous daggers to the ground, she will order them to fly up into the air dealing another round of damage.

Face me: Balbala will sometimes use this move when you’re too far away from here. The boss will lunge in your direction and turn herself into a projectile.

Akh Barya: The boss will summon a golden magic circle using a coin. You need to collect the coin to stop the circle from creating a spirit. If you are low on health potion, you can also let the circle summon the mob and kill it to gain potion charge.

Mist of Sulamit: This is the most annoying move in Balbala’s move set. The boss will summon a deadly poison mist that will cover the whole arena. The only way to stop it from spreading is to locate the djinn who’s gone invisible. Once you find her, immediately dodge away since she will attack the ground underneath her.

Strategy

Balbala is not just dangerous because of her speed but also her poison attacks and the spirit enemies. Things get very hectic once you reduce her HP bar to half. She will summon a ton of coins with Akh Barya. Since I was using the Witch, her minions could handle these extra enemies. However, there was one instance where I got locked into a corner by these spirits while the Mist of Sulamit was out.

If you are using a melee class, you can consider bringing a shield since it can block the dagger attacks and prevent you from getting poisoned. Due to her speed, hitting her directly is difficult. The fight is much easier if you have AoE attacks or spells that can auto-target.

Here are some skills for each class that may work well against Balbala:

Warrior: Rolling Slam, Earthquaker, and Armor Breaker

Mercenary: Fragmentation Rounds and Armour Piercing Rounds

Sorceress: Orb of Storms and Solar Orb

Witch: Skeletal Sniper, Flame Wall with Raging Spirits

Monk: Staggering Palm, Tempest Bell, and Frozen Locus

Huntress: Gas Arrow and Poisonburst

Defeating this boss will grant you Balbala’s Barya that you can use to enter the Trial of the Sekhemas. This is a tough challenge where you must face powerful enemies, but it will allow you to ascend your character.
